BRITISH POLAR PARTY
NEW ZEALANDER WILL LEAD ANTARCTIC QUEST COMMANDER WORSLEY’S PLANS LONDON, Friday. Britain is to make the next move in Antarctic exploration, says the “Daily Herald.” The leader will be Commander Frank Worsley, who commanded the Endurance and Quest on Sir Ernest Shackleton’s expeditions. Airplanes may be used. The objects will be both commercial and scientific. The cost of the expedition will be about £25,000.
Commander Frank Arthur Worsley, D. 5.0., is a New Zealander. Fie is a son of Mr. Henry T. YVorsley, and was educated at the Fendalton High School. He is now 57 years of age. In the Great War he served in the Navy with distinction, and was afterward lent to the War Office as director of Arctic equipment and transport on the Archangel front. North Russia. In 1925 he was captain of the ship in which the Algarsson expedition visited the Arctic.
