SPRING SUGGESTIONS FOR BEDDING
The time is at hand when it will ! be necessary to consider how we shall | plant our beds and borders to ensure j an effective display next spring. Here I are nine suggestions for combina- j tions which will be; found to work out well and produce a brave show from August to the end of October: (1.) Narcissus Princeps (yellow')* cottage tulip, scarlet and double w'hite Arabls. (2.) Early tulip. bronzy-crimson; cottage tulip (yellow) and wallflower (dark crimson). <3.) Early tulip, orange-scarlet; Spanish iris and wallflower, bright 1 orange. <4.) Narcissus golden spur, yellow: | cottage tulip, golden, yellow', edged ecarlet: and polyanthus in red shades. (5.) Early tulip, bright red, edged golden-yellow; narcissus Barrii, conspicuous pale yellow, coloured centre; and the yellow' Alyssum sexatile. (6.) Early tulip. Golden Queen, yellow. tulips mixed; and wallflower, primrose, yellow. (7.) Early tulip. Cottage Maid, white and deep rose; cottage tulip, white, j margined rose; and pink double daisies. (8.) Narcissus, Alice Knights, white; Darwin tulip, Clara Butt, pink; or cottage tulip, inglescombe, pink; and Myosotis, royal blue. (9.) Narcissus, King Alfred, yellow; cottage tulip. cherry colour and white; and wallflower, ruby-violet.
