CROQUET “AT HOME”
ENJOYABLE AFTERNOON AT PAPATOETOE CLUB Tho annual At Home of the Papatoetoe Croquet Club, held on the club’s lawns, Great South Road, Papatoetoe. yesterday afternoon, was a very enjoyable function. Representatives were present from tho Ellerslie, Mangere East, Mangere Central, Manurewa, Alount Albert, J Mount Wellington, Howick, Onehunga, Otahuhu and St. Heliers Ray clubs- | A produce stall in charge of Mesdames W. T. S. Wilson and W. Cuf- ' forth was well patronised, and the J funds of the club will be augmented l from the proceeds. I During the afternoon, a series of very interesting competitions was held. The ; successful competitors were: Progressive Croquet.—First session: A grade, Miss Wann, Howick; B grade, Mrs. Ogilvie, Otahuhu. Second ses- | sion: A grade, Mrs. Patton, Otahuhu; j B grade. Miss Washer, Onehunga. Third session: A grade, Mrs. Roberts. Howick; B grade, Mrs. Parr, Onehunga. Target croquet competition winners were: Mrs. Roberts,"'Mrs. J. Daisley and Mrs. R. McCullough, j A mixed bowling tournament was won by Mosdames W. Boyce, Farrand. Messrs. Stevens and A. Nettlingham. WHEN MAKING LOOSE COVERS FOR CHESTERFIELDS or easy chairs, make the seats separately, leaving enough material to tuck well in at • back and sides. Make the front secure with press-studs or hooks-and-eyes. A seat can be easily washed at home several times before it is necessary to have the whole cover cleaned.
