“BRING AND BUY” FETE
PLUNKET SOCIETY FUNDS TO BENEFIT SUCCESSFUL DARGAVILLE FUNCTION “Aoroa, the beautiful homestead of Air. and Airs. A. E. Harding, a few miles from Rargaville, was the scene of a pleasant and successful function on Wednesday afternoon and evening, when a “bring and buy” fete was held. As a result the Flunket Society will benefit by over £7O, which amount will be placed toward the fund for the purchase of a car. The weather was fine for the function, which was well attended by both old and young. A display of cut flowers from the gardens of Colonel Nutsford, of Ala re - rctu, was much admired and realised a good sum. The North Auckland Regimental Band contributed a musical programme during the evening to the strains of which couples danced upon the lawn. Among those who contributed by assisting with stalls and amusements, etc-., were:—Bring and buy stall. Alesdames J. Dempsey, J. Totich, E, French and Aliss Walden: cake stall, Alesdarnes H. B. Armitage, J. R. Barrow, B. S. Angus and E. Jackson; flower stall .Alesdarnes AV. G. S. Smith and A. J. Finch; afternoon tea stall, Alesdames F. Carr, C. Holm, C. S. Rush and R. AV. Rae; sweets stall, Alesdarnes M. Cort-Astley, AV. R. Worsley, Alisses T. Smith and Af. Harding: side-shows, Alessrs. A. AVhatfoxd, J. Dempsey and E. L. Farley; fish pond, Alesdarnes T. C. French, R. Bremner. O. G. Bramwell and AI. Greville; croquet and golf, Alesdarnes G. N. Hayes and S. G. Barker: pony rides, Alasters Farley and Crawford; 500 competition, Alesdarnes O. AVilliams, A. C. Ball, B. G. Smith and Air. Chris. Holm. Mr. H. Gaukrodger supplied music with an amplified gramophone during the afternoon. At any competitions were held during the progress of the function. Boyes; embroidered supper cloth, Airs. H. Tonkin; cooked dinners, Airs. J. Old and Airs. Olsen; picture, Mrs. AVallace; doll, Air. S. Morrow (Auckland); china sandwich set, Airs. O. AVilliams; weight guessing cake, Aliss Hansen; 500 card tournament, Airs. W. R. AVorsley and Air. J. R. Barrow; cons’olation. Aliss J. Cole and Air. P. Riggle; sachet, Mrs. J. Neild. Air. and Airs. Harding, assisted by every member of their family, ably fulfilled their duties as host and hostesses.
