“THE RETURN OF SHERLOCK HOLMES” At last Sherlock Holmes, the great detective, and Moriarty, the archcriminal meet, after years of sleuthing by Sherlock Holmes. It all happens in “The Return of Sherlock Holmes,” the all-talking Paramount picture, at the Strand Theatre. Clive Brook has the role of Sherlock Holmes, Sir A. Conan Doyle’s famous fiction character of the past forty years. Sherlock Holmes comes out of retirement to find the slayer of his friend, Captain Longmore. The trail leads Holmes into the most exciting adventure of his career. Through his efforts the murderer is not only apprehended but a giant international radio-tapping ring is brought to justice. The supports included a Fox Movietone News and two bright vocal features, “The Gay Cabalerro,” with Frank Crummit and Dale Smith in a bracket of old-time English numbers. There is also an interesting scenic, “Rome,” and a rollicking corpedy. “The Fatal Forceps.”
