USED “THE BLARNEY”
IRISHMAN DIVIDES £I,OOO WITH SWEDE DISPUTE MONEY MULTIPLIES CHICAGO, Thursday. Twenty years ago an Irishman and a Swede, Mike O’Toole and Chris Larsen, could not settle a dispute over £SO, so they took the money to a bank manager, and told him to keep it until they had settled the quarrel. Today the investment has grown to £I,OOO. The bank got in touch with Larsen, who loftily declined a settlement. Then the hank summoned O’Toole, who is over 70 years of age. He used “blarney” so successfully that the joint owners went to the nearest “speak-easy,” spent an hour there in negotiations, and then called for an equal division of the money.
