AUSTRALIA’S TASK
MEETS MONEY SHORTAGE WITH COURAGE MORE GOLD FOR LONDON LONDON. Thursday. The city editor of the “Morning Post” expresses the opinion that the Australian authorities are meeting the financial situation in a courageous fashion. The writer says some of the diffi culties of the present situation may not be entirely unconnected with past policy, but it is fully recognised that they have been greatly accentuated by the world-wride fall in prices of commodities, also by the difficulty of raising large credits in the chief lending centres. It is announced from Canberra that £1,000,000 worth of gold was shipped by the Orford to yesterday. This is to assist in balancing accounts.
