POLICE SEEK FARMER
MISSING AT MEETING OF CREDITORS ALLEGED REFUSAL TO PAY Special to THE SUN NEW PLYMOUTH, Today. The flight of a bankrupt ex-farmer named Bert Thomas, lately of the Mangorei district, near New Plymouth, was explained to his creditors who assembled this afternoon to attend the statutory meeting. The deputyofficial assignee, Air. J. S. S. Medley, said bankrupt had been missing since two days after he was served with the bankruptcy notice of bis petitioning creditors, about one month ago. Thomas owes about £450. Mis disappearance, it was said, was due to the long delay from February 12 to 26 before the completion of the legal processes preceding the adjudication order. An information was laid after the adjudication and a warrant has been issued, but so far .has not been executed. The assignee stated that he believed bankrupt had said before he vanished that he would not pay his creditors, although he had the money with which to pay. Thomas possesses plenty of liquid cash, according to statements made at the meeting, he having sold his farm for £1,300, which he converted into £IOO notes. At a late hour yesterday bankrupt had not. been traced.
