POISONED TWO WIVES
ARREST CHECKS GAY LIFE OF FRENCHMAN THREATS OF LYNCHING PAP.IS, Wednesday. A stir has been created in the South or France by the arrest at Marseilles of Dr. Laget, a Chevalier of the Legion of Honour, on a charge of poisoning his two wives. The women were sisters, their maiden name being Alexandre. The first wife, Sarah, died in 1922 after a short and painful illness. The second, Suzanne, died in April. 1929, in similar circumstances. The discovery that Dr. Laget was living a very gay life and buying a considerable amount of poison led to the exhumation of the sisters As the accused man was being taken to prison an angry mob threatened to lynch him. The doctor is also accused of attempting to poison his sister and is suspected of trying to poison his aunt.
