FRUIT CONTROL BOARD
INVESTIGATION OVERSEAS From Our Own Correspondent NELSON, Tuesday. Mr. J. i.. Brown, chairman of the Fruit Export Control Board, in a statement made on the eve of his departure for England, stated that among the matters that would receive his atteniton there were the freight contract, which might take up considerable time, and refrigeration, especially on overseas ships. The vexed question of rust would be specially dealt with. In this connection experimental cases of various varieties of apples and pears would be packed and forwarded to London. He was also negotiating with the Empire Marketing Board on behalf of the Fruit Kesearch Committee. The negotiations, if successful, would mean considerable benefit to the fruit industry of New Zealand. Mr. Brown will visit East Maling station, and report on its root stock experiments. In addition, he will investigate the marketing, handling, storing and distribution of New Zealand fruit.
