OBSTETRIC APPEAL
The Ko hi marama branch gf the Tamaki Women’s Progressive Xse*ct'<te had a very successful meeting in connection with the obstetrical appeal, in the Presbyterian Church, Kohimarama, Miss Alice Basten presiding. The meeting was addressed by Dr. Buckley-Turkington and Mrs. C. E. Maguire. At th& conclusion a committee was set up to raise Kohimarama’s quota of the fund. The St. Heliers Bay branch will have a meeting at St. Heliers next week. EPSOM BRANCH A meeting of the Epsom branch of the New Zealand Obstetrical Society wa’s held yesterday morning at Mrs. J. B. Macfarlane’s residence, Gillies Avenue. Dr. Hilda Northcroft spoke on the aims and requirements of the society, and Mrs. A. E. Kidd explained the plan of campaign which was being adopted in the Auckland Province. An enthusiastic body of women were enrolled and will immediately start an energetic canvass of the district. Mrs. Macfarlane is convener of the Epsom branch and Miss E. M. Ernest secretary. Among those present were: Mrs. G. Blomfield, Mrs. Noakes. Mrs. Kidd, Mrs. IT. V. Hemus, Mrs. Pratt, Mrs. Hayman, Mrs. Preston Chambers, Mrs. Ernest, Mrs. Armstrong, Mrs. Heather and the Misses Dawson, Ernest and Armstrong. At a meeting in connection with the executive of the Obstetrical Appeal. Mrs. W. A. Cooke, of Bella Vista Road. Herne Bay, was appointed convener of a committee which is now being set up to canvass the area to be known as the Herne Bay District. This area includes West End Estate, part of Richmond, Herne Bay, College Hill, and part of Ponsonby to the south of Jervois Road, Pompallier Terrace being one of the boundaries. Miss L. Sloane lias been appointed honorary secretary.
