RAILWAY APPEALS

BOARD NOW SITTING There is a list of 25*cases to be dealt with by the Railways Appeal Board; which commenced its sittings in Auckland yesterday. It is expected that the board will conclude its business by Friday evening. Mr. J. G. L. Hewitt. S.M., chairman of the board, is presiding, and associated with him are Mr. J. R. Robertson, representing the Railway Department, and Mr. V. R. J. Stanley, president of the Railway Officers’ Institute, who is representing the first division of the railway service. The advocate for the department is Mr. M. Dennehy, assistant-general manager, and the majority of the appellants are represented by Mr. R. Hampton, general secretary of the Railway Officers’ Institute.
