CHECK ON SEDITION
FIRM CENSORSHIP ON SPANISH PRESS PROTECTION FOR ALFONSO MADRID, Monday. In reminding the public prosecutors throughout Spain that the laws of the country must be applied firmly, the head of the department in a circular insists that they must put an end to attacks on King Alfonso. Also they must suppress threats, calumnies, seditious cries and all acts against the dictatorship or social order or the prestige of the King’s Government. The public prosecutors also are ordered to scrutinise the newspapers carefully and to take proceedings against offenders even in cases where the contents of newspapers have passed the censorship. Political propaganda therefore will be subjected to a double check.
