PAPAKURA TOWN BOARD
CONTROL OF CEMETERY From Our Own Correspondent PAPAKURA, Today. At a meeting of the Papakura Town Board, held last evening. Mr. James McCall, presiding, an offer from the Auckland City Council to present the board with samples of German machine guns or trench mortars, provided the board paid freight and packing, was declined with thanks. On the recommendation of the Reserves Committee, and as a further step toward proper control of the cemetery, the board decided that application be made to the GovernorGeneral to appoint the Papakura Town Board trustee of the cemetery within the Papakura town district. The chairman of the Finance Committee, the Rev. W. C. Wood, stated that the financial position was somewhat better than anticipated a few weeks back. The rates paid in amounted to £1,709 4s, the balance in general fund being £462 3s Bd. To define more clearly the actual places where buses are expected to stop, the bus stands are to receive a coating of colfix top-dressed with shell, which will give good visibility.
