MR. ALLUM AT HALIFAX
SON MAKING RECOVERY In a message from Halifax, Mr. J. A. C. Allum, chairman of the Auckland Transport Board, states that there Is hope for the complete recovery of his son, Mr. J. A. Allum, who was taken ill while on his way to England to begin his career m the mercantile marine. Mr. and Mrs. Allum left Auckland last month on a 10,000-mile journey to Halifax, where their son lies in hospital. Advice received yesterday was that an improvement in Mr. Allum’s condition began a fortnight ago, and the doctors expected that a rest for a year would result in a cure. On medical advice Mr. and Mrs. Allum will take their son to London by the steamer Port Dunedin, which is to leave Halifax about the end of this week. They will return to Auckland by the Port Huon, which leaves London about April 12, and will reach Auckland toward the end of May.
