TATARARIKI MEETING From Our Own Correspondent DARGAVILLE, Sunday. Beautiful weather favoured the annual Tatarariki sports meeting held on Mr. N. McLeod’s paddock, Tatarariki, yesterday. The attendance of spectators was good, and the various events keenly contested. Results: CHOPPING AND SAWING EVENTS. Maiden handicap, local standing 10-inch block: W. Taliu, scr., 1; J. Elliott, scr.,'2; F. Wordsworth, Bsec, 3. Ten competitors. Won by a blow. Time 52sec. Standing 14-inch chop: R. Switzer, 14sec, 1; J. Turner, 45sec, 2. Five competitors. The placed men were the only contestants to finish. Switzer won by a very wide margin. Time, 69 sec. Maiden double-hand 16-inch saw: F. Nelson and H. Alcock, 4sec, 1; R. Dickson and H. Tahu, 2sec, 2; T. Cayne and F. Wordsworth, 4see, 3. Seven competitors. Won comfortably. Time, 26sec. Open double-hand 16-inch saw: A. Dickson and A. Bassett, 4sec, 1; T. Lethbridge and J. Rope, 4sec, 2; R. Switzer and J. Elliott, 4sec, 3. Eight competitors. Won closely. Time, 17sec. Open underhand 12-inch chop: W. Tahu, 25sec, 1; R. Switzer, 14sec, 2; J. Tumu, 40sec, 3. Five competitors. A close finish. Time, 1.30. Championship saw, 16-inch (two cuts): A. Dickson and A. Bassett, 1; R. Switzer and J. Elliott. 2; T. Lethbridge and J. Rope, 3. Four competitors. A close finish. Time, 33sec. ATHLETIC EVENTS. Maiden 120yds handicap: W. Hobson, 1 r T. Marinkovich, 2. Three starters. Won by three yards. Time, 14sec. Koririki Cup. 150 yards handicap: W. Hobson, 10yds, 1; T. Marinkovich, 12yds. 2; J. | Tumu, 16yds, 3. Ten starters. A fine ! finish. Won by a yard, with two vards separating second and third. Returned soldiers’ 75 yards dash: A. Ross, 1; T. Coyne, 2; R. P. Rope, 3. Seven competitors. Time, lOsec. Open handicap. BSO yards: W. Hobson, 40yds. 1; J. Tumu. 50 yds, 2. Five starters. Hobson hung with the bunch, and came to the front 100 yards from the tape, to win comfortably. Tumu was the only other competitor to finish. Time, 2.23. Cycle handicap, one mile: E. Doyle.
