The attendance of spectators was good, and the various events keenly contested. Results: CHOPPING AND SAWING EVENTS. Maiden handicap, local standing 10-inch block: W. Taliu, scr., 1; J. Elliott, scr.,'2; F. Wordsworth, Bsec, 3. Ten competitors. Won by a blow. Time 52sec. Standing 14-inch chop: R. Switzer, 14sec, 1; J. Turner, 45sec, 2. Five competitors. The placed men were the only contestants to finish. Switzer won by a very wide margin. Time, 69 sec. Maiden double-hand 16-inch saw: F. Nelson and H. Alcock, 4sec, 1; R. Dickson and H.
