TAMWORTH PRISONER ILL AND STARVED VISIT TO FARMHOUSE Reed. 10.35 a.m. SYDNEY, Today. John King, an escaped prisoner, was rearrested when starving and ill. He called at a homestead near Tamworth and was persuaded to give himself up. King’s escape was sensational. Smashing the window of a railway carriage and leaping to the rails, he made a spectacular escape from his guard when the train was travelling at about 40 miles an hour near Tamworth. The escorting constable. in attempting to stop King, burst through the glass partition of the door, severely cutting liis arm.
