GINGER DRINK PROSTRATES OKLAHOMA RESIDENTS SALE OF ILLEGAL PRODUCT NEW YORK, Sunday. Chemists are attempting to determine the nature of the poison which has afflicted 300 residents of Oklahoma, who drank “jake,” a concoctio* derived from Jamaica ginger. The belief is expressed that a shipment of adulterated Jamaica ginger received at New York caused the trouble. The Federal State authorities have started a vigorous campaign against sellers of Jamaica ginger, which is illegal. At Elizabethton. Tennessee, 13 persons have been affected by paralysis of the feet similar to that at Oklahoma. It has not been determined whether this is due to liquor.
