AGROUND IN ROUGH SEA
CORNWALL RESISTS ALL SALVAGE EFFORTS MEAT PERISHING IN HOLD LONDON, Sunday. The master of the steamer Cornwall, which went ashore at Curacao, has sent a message by cable stating that attempts throughout the day by two tugs to tow off the vessel failed. Preparations are being made for fresh efforts. The salvage officer cables that operations are difficult owing to the deep water. They have been suspended for the present. As a result of the rough sea running the leaks in No. 1 hold are increasing and there is danger of losing the frozen meat, which probably will have to be discharged. Lighters are being arranged for and the salvage contractors have despatched assistance from Key West.
