Mr. P. Hally, Conciliation Commissioner, arrived by the express today.
Mr. E. C. Cutten, S.M., returned from the South by the express this morning.
Mr. Rocke O’Shea, registrar of the Auckland University College, returned to Auckland this morning.
Mr. W. A. Boucher, managing director of Spedding, Limited, who has been visiting Wellington, has returned to Auckland.
Mr. E. Casey, divisional superintendent of railways for the North Island, returned from Wellington by the Limited express today.
Judge A. McCarthy, of Samoa, accompanied by Mrs. McCarthy, has returned to Auckland after a visit to Wellington.
Dr. D. Miller, entomologist at the Cawthron Institute, has been selected to represent the Government at the Imperial Entomological Conference, to be held in London in May next. —P.A.
The Hon. J. J. Holmes, a member of the Legislative Council of Western Australia and a former Minister of Railways in the State Government, who lias been touring New Zealand, is stay-* ing at the Grand Hotel. Lieut.-Colonel A. B. Carmichael, commander of the Central-North Division o’! the Salvation Army, with headquarters at Palmerston North, and Mrs. Carmichael, are retiring from active service in April. Lieut.-Colonel Carmichael will visit Australia in May. Mr. Justice Herdman and Mr. Justice Smith leave tomorrow evening for Wellllngton to attend the Appeal Court session, opening on Tuesday . Mr. Justice Ostler, who is to preside over the Auckland session in the interim, ■will arrive by the Limited on Monday morning. Mr. J. W. Col Tins, New Zealand Trade Commissioner to Canada, was presented with a sheepskin album and a greenstone paper knife on behalf of the New Zealand Manufacturers’ Association at a luncheon of the Wellington Chamber of Commerce on Thursday.
