MAKING MUSIC LOVERS
INFLUENCE OF TALKIES The greatest beneficial influence that the taling motion pictures will have upon the English-speaking world will be that of making them a race of music lovers, according to Victor Schertzinger, composer of the enchanting music for “The Love Parade,” Maurice Chevalier’s second singing romance for Paramount. Schertzinger says that much of the optimism and contentment of the peoples of the Continent can be traced to their love for music and their bands and orchestras, playi»g the finest scores of the greatest composers, in even the smallest villages. In composing the music for “The Love Parade,” Schertzinger sought to attain the quality of the classics in modern music, and his efforts have resulted in some of the most beautiful numbers yet presented on the talking screen. “The Love Parade,” which was directed by Ernst Lubitsch, received its Australian premiere recently, and is scheduled to arrive in Xew Zealand at an early date.
