AMOUNIS AGAIN

WINNINGS NOW £37,796 another for phar lap Unit'd P.A —By Telegraph—Copyright MELBOURNE, Thursday. The Victoria Racing l Club's autumn meeting was continued at Flemington today, when there was again a large attendance. The race track was fast. Chumree registered an attractive performance: in the decision of the Autumn Hurdle Ku.ce. In the early stages he was racing well back, but finished in lint style and won nicely, liis owner-trainer, Mr. If. \V. Torr, prepared the Caulfield Cup winner, AVynette. Chumree was ridden by E. Webster, who recently announced his retirement. This was liis first mount for some months. The field of contestants for the C. 3f. Lloyd Stakes was reduced to a trio. Amounis once again demonstrated his brilliancy, lie took command in the straight and won convincingly from Green lino, who made a game effort, but he was no match for the winner. J. Pike rode Amounis. In 1928 lie steered Gothic to victory in the C. M. Lloyd Stakes, and on the same horse a dead-heat with Mollison in the same race last year was recorded. Amounis has registered eight successive victories, and his winnings in stakes now’ amount to £ 37.796. so he is creeping up to Gloaming <£43,000. Smart Two-Year-Old By winning the Ascot Bale Stakes Tliurlstone further established his right to be accepted as the best two-year-old competing at the meeting. So far Tliurlstone has contested live races, and his record stands at three win,-, and a. second. Approximately his winnings in stake money may be computed at £5.450. Cimbriun, the half-brother to Heroic, won the Autumn Handicap brilliantly. Entering the straight lie was in last position, but disposed of the opposition in the run home. The winner was trained by a former New Zealander, L. Itobertaon. The Governor's Plate brought out a field of four. J. Pike being unable to make the weight, W. Elliott was selected to rido Phar Lap. The Derby and St. Leger winner scored an easy victory. W. Elliott had not previously steered the winner of a weight-for-age event. Following are the results: AUTUMN HURDLE RACE Of £500; 2i miles.
