PLUNKET SOCIETY
CONFERENCE GF DELEGATES SECOND DAY’S DISCUSSION The second annual conference of the Royal New Zealand Society for the Health of Women and Children was continued at “Marino to,” Symonds Street, this morning, Airs. Parkes again presiding. Some discussion took place regarding a remit received from Pukekohe suggesting that Sir Truby King be asked to make some distinction between food names, owing to the confusion that had arisen from the similarity of many names. Aiiss I-loddinott, general secretary, for the whole of New Zealand, spoke on the formation of branches and subbranches, and their representation on the central council. The formation of branches and new sub-branches depended on the finance available, all new branches being appointed by the central council to ensure financial stability. She called attention to rules of th© society and referred to the need for branches keeping in touch with each other. Airs. Parkes read a letter from an overseas paper praising the wide scope of the Plunket Society in the Dominion, contrasting the progress New Zealand had made in the education of mothers with the work that had been done abroad. There was no excuse for the mothers of New Zealand remaining in ignorance of the best methods of ante-natal care of their offspring.
The meeting then adjourned for the delegates to inspect the Plunket Home. This afternoon delegates will visit the Karitane I-Tome.
