PAPATOETOE BEACHES

NEW ACCESS ROAD The Papatoetoe Welfare League recently concluded negotiations with Mr. W. L. Orr, Long Beaches, Papatoetoe, which will give the residents of Paparoetoe acces sto the beaches fronting his property. About three months ago the league inquired from the Manukau County Council if there were any public roads giving access to the beaches. The inquiry was referred to Mr. F. M. Waters, chairman, and Mr. Page, engineer of the council, with the result that a 66ft road was found running through Mr. Orr’s property right on to the beach. It lias been decidt'd to fence this l oad, and visitors will be able to drive to the water’s edge. Mr. Orr has generously promised to plant a belt of shelter trees this autumn, and Papatoetoe and the surrounding districts now have a splendid watering-place in a very convenient position.
