TRAMS FOR WANGANUI
LAST OF TAKAPUNA CARS The last of the carriages of the steam tram system which was in operation at Takapuna a few years ago are now on Devonport Wharf on their way to Wanganui, where they will be modernised and brought into service as electric trams of the one-man control type. A number of the carriages were shipped away about two years ago to the same city. The remainder have since been stacked outside the former tram-barns at Takapuna, now used to house the large bus fleet which serves the district.
