CONDITION SERIOUS
Reports from the Te Aroha Hospital this morning regarding the condition of Jockey H. Goldfinch indicate that the Yakanini horseman is not making the progress expected, and his condition is regarded as critical. The injuries to the head are not grave, but the internal injuries, from all accounts, are very serious, and an operation was performed yesterday. All sportsmen will learn with regret that the unfortunate mishap last Monday at Te Aroha should have been attended by serious injuries to the Dominion's leading horseman, and .the hope will be universal that Goldfinch's hard fight will see victory come his way once again, and that it will not be so very long, after all, before he is- able to follow his profession. It will be remembered that Arikitoa, ridden by Goldfinch, fell during the running of the Piako Hack at Te Aroha on Monday, and four other horses fell over him. Goldfinch was at once taken to hospital.
