MUSICAL COMEDY SEASON

HIS MAJESTY’S ON SATURDAY Box plans for “Lido Lady,” tjie opening’ production of the Fullers’ New English Musical Comedy Company, opened this morning, 'and indications point to a phenomenal rush on the bookings. It is not every day that Auckland gets the opportunity of witnessing a musical comedy of the calibre of ■'Lido Lady,” presented by a firstclass company, and at common-sense prices. Since the introduction of talkies, theatrical shows have been sadly cut down and it seems as if the future will see even fewer companies touring through New Zealand. This should be an added incentive to all lovers of the legitimate to see a fine stage show while it is yet available and not to realise the opportunity when it is too late to be grasped. Freddie Forbes and his satellites are worthy representatives of the legitimate profession, and combine within their talent the best features of the old stage shows. “Lido Lady,” to be presented at a matinee on Saturday next at His Majesty’s Theatre, is a-brim with all the qualities essential to the success of a musical play. It exudes a gay and frolicking merriment that is irresistibly attractive, and in all departments of frocking and staging it is more than up to the usual high standard of the Fuller shows. The music is tuneful and appealing, and many delightful novelties are introduced into the presentation of the comedy.
