CONTROL OF WOOL
RESENTMENT SHOWN AT BRADFORD DISLIKE OF RESTRAINT United P.A.—By Telegraph—Copyright SYDNEY, Tuesday. A message from London says the news of the intention of the United Graziers’ Association to control onetfiird of the wool clip with the object of stabilising prices was not very lavoLirably received by Bradford merchants, who have repeatedly stated Their dislike of any control or artificial restraints on the market. Even the measures adopted earlier in the season, to prevent prices falling below the rates which obtained in the second half of January, did not gain lull support in Bradford, where it is considered that the continual talk of control and other methods of artificial stabilisation is unsettling the market. Official steps are being taken by the British "Wool Federation to r>lace its views before the graziers. Mr. George Whitaker, president of the association, says: "My view is that the graziers will defeat their own interests by subscribing to any scheme of control. The present state of uncertainty will remain until there is a definite declaration on the part of the graziers that wool will be offered freely, without limit other than the* capacity of the buyers to obsorb the absolute supplies offered.” _ The officials of the Graziers’ Council in Sydney say they have no knowledge of any intention to control onethird of the Australian wool clip. They cannot understand the motive of the foregoing cablegram from London.
