“Mechanic.” —Could you tell me in what reference book I could find some information about a Flint car, or could you find out for me. What 1 want to know is this: The size of the inner front, wheel bearings of Flint 860. 1927 model The information you require is, the Timkin bearing 1411-14274. A.G.S. —May I be permitted to ask if there is any prospect of the American baby car being put on the Auckland market in the near future? Could you give me any idea of the price that would be asked if they were? There is very little prospect of this. For one thing, the car is not made by any of the companies who now have distributing branches here, and the Americans are not likely to open up agencies before they exhaust or, at any rate, try out the home market. -Could you tell me how long
it should take a good mechanic to dismantle the cylinder block of ‘ a light six car and fit new connecting rod bearings ? 3 ; ou don t say the make of car, which is important. Roughly the time would be about 10 hours. * * * . C ; T F - — 1 have had a lot of trouble with my little car recently, first with the carburettor- which was very old then with the engine-valves one of \\hich broke. So I had botii new parts fitted and very shortly found another complaint. The engine now goes in foi slight spitting and the carburettor overflows quite often. What do von think is the trouble? It seems to me that the trouble is quite understandable if you have had a new engine valve fitted. A slight error has crept in. and the timingnow makes the intake to open on the up stroke of the pistons, creating pressure to the carburettor before suction. Better have the valves retimed.
