ATHLETICS AT DOMAIN
MEREDITH’S FAST QUARTER Judging his run perfectly, L. H. Meredith, off two yards, did the quarter-mile in 50 4-5 at yesterday afternoon’s athletic meeting at the Domain. Three athletic events and one cycling event were held. Meredith’s running in the principal race was splendid. He and the other back-markers. Henry and Smith, tore after the field. Meredith beating runners of the calibre of Kerr-Taylor. He won by two yards. In the 150yds M. O’Shea scored a good win. At the 100yds McCoy slipped through the field and looked a winner, but faded in the final burst. Results: 44QYds Handicap.—L. H. Meredith, 2yds, 1: D. Kerr-Taylor. 20yds. 2: H. J. Ryall, 22yds. 3. Time, 50 4-5. Meredith won by two yards, with Ryall a foot behind Kerr-Taylor. 150Yds. Handicap.—M. O’Shea, Syds, Ji H. S. Roper, 2; L. H. Meredith, 3?yds, 3. Time, 14 4-5. Savidan. who was down for this event, did not start, and Montgomery and Cooper, virtual scratch men, caught the field in goon time. Montgomery faded out, but Cooper missed overhauling Barker by only two yards. Scown trailed in 15 yards behind. Two Miles* Cycle Handicap.—S. Litchfield, scr. 1: H. Clav, 220yds, 2: R. JOwsley, 200yds. 3. Time. 5.24. Litchfield lapped with Clay, and two' rounds from homf- spurted to catch the field and win by no yards. Clay led Owsley in by » yard.
