FEILDING’S JUBILEE
BILL FOR EASTER FIXTURE TWO GOLD CUPS This is the jubilee year of the Feild- j ing Jockey Club. The spring meeting saw the first half of this jubilee year j very successfully launched, for despite J the inclement weather the fixture was an unqualified success. The second meeting is the Easter Jubilee fixture on Easter Saturday and Monday, April 19 and 21, and there are several interesting items on the programme, for which the fine sum of : £3,925 is being given in stake money. £2.000 on the first day and £1,925 on the second day. There are two gold cups to be ! won, one for the principal handicap on Easter Saturday, and- the j second for the Hack Cup on Easter Monday. The big event, with its £IOO gold cup, is the Manchester Cold Cup Handicap, of £6OO, of which the winner takes the magnificent trophy and £350, the second and third horses receiving £ 100 and £SO respectively. The distance is a mile and a-quarter. In addition to the trophy going to the owner of the winning horse, the successful trainer is not forgotten, for he will receive a pair of special racing binoculars. Valuable Hack Cup One of the most interesting events on the whole programme js the Oroua Hack Gold Cup, run on the second day. This is worth £4OO, and includes a £6O gold cup. second and third receiving £IOO and £55 respectively. This was a very popular race last year, providing a wonderful finish, two good horses in Atholspear and Thrift fighting it out to a lialf-head decision in favour of the former. This race on this occasion should furnish thrills aplenty. There will be a number of Auckland horses that could be well placed at Feilding, where races may not be quite so difficult to win as at Ellerslie, and it is expected that when general entries close with the secretary, Mr. E. G. Goodbehere, on March 31 Northern stables will be liberally represented.
