CAUGHT UNDER TRAM

MAN ESCAPES LIGHTLY ACCIDENT IN QUEEN STREET Stepping from the inward-bound safety zone in Queen Street at the foot of Wyndham Street about 4 o’clock yesterday afternoon, Mr. A. E. Snaitb, of 8 Patey Street, Remuera, was knocked down by a tramcar. He escaped with cuts to his face and arms and with bruises. Fortunately the tram was slowing down to the stop and came to rest in a few feet as soon as the motorman applied his safety brakes. The catcher in the front had pushed Mr. Snaith along the rails, but he -was wedged so tightly that the front of the tram had to be jacked up before he could be released. Mr. Snaith was assisted to a chemist’s shop and taken to hospital by the St. John Ambulance for treatment.
