ANNUAL The annual raeo meeting of the Oltinemuri Jockey Club, to be held Paeroa ott Saturday and Monday, March 15 and 17 (St. Patrick's Day},’ is goinft to prove n. splendid success’ it one can judge by tho excellent nominations received. There are 19 enured for the Ohinemuri Cup, including Royal Poulton and Desert Glow, winner and runner-up in this event 12 months ago. The class is good throughout, and the race promises to he a real thriller. The sprint the first Jay has drawn an entry of 22, and a similar number has been nominated for the two-year-old race the same day On the second day the big handicap has 22 and the sprint 26. with 22 again the score for the juvenile contest. The Jumpers Paeroa usually gives a good send-off to the jumping season, for it is here that the first steeplechases of the new year are staged. On the-first day there is the McGuire Steeplechase. 2i miles and on the second day the ’chasers are catered for by the Hauraki Plains Steeples. 3 miles, these events drawing entries of 17 and 20, respectively Tho tvro hurdle contests have also ’ filled remarkably well. 22 being engaged on the opening day and. a similar number on the second day.
