ON MISCHIEF BENT
YOUTHS LET AIR OUT OF * TYRES CAUGHT BY CONSTABLE On mischief bent, Robert Palmer and John Even Everett visited the Devonport ferry wharf late on the night of January 19. There thev hit on the bright idea of letting down cycle tyres by pulling out the valves and throwing them away. This morning, at the Police Court, the two youths, who were said to be 17 years of age, were charged with committing mischief by wilfully damaging two bicycles, belonging to John Robinson and Edward Miller, to the extent of 2s. “They thought it was a good joke ” said Constable Cowan, who gave eviaence, as the two defendants did not appear. One of the cyclists had to engage a taxi to get home, and the defendants had paid for that. K. Hunt, S.M., convicted and discharged both youths.
