£SOO THEFT ALLEGED

YOUNG BANK CLERK IN COURT CASE IN OTAGO Press Association DUNEDIN, Wednesday. A charge of stealing £SOO from the Bank of New Zealand was preferred against John Albert Simes, aged about 19, employed as a clerk at the bank’s branch at Alexandra, when he appeared in the Police Court today before justices of the peace. It was stated that the money was missed on Monday morning, and that accused admitted the theft to Constable Sorrell and Detective Huttall. He took the detective to his bedroom and handed over the money. Accused was remanded to appear at Alexandra on 6. Bail was allowed in self, £2OO, and one surety of £2OO.
