SUICIDE AFTER ILLNESS

TRAGEDY IN CHRISTCHURCH Press Association CHRISTCHURCH, Tuesday. A single man, Mr. Arthur John Payne, aged 27, was found at his residence at Woolston yesterday afternoon suffering from a gunshot wound in the neck. He died this morning. At an inquest today evidence was given that Payne had been despondent recently and that his health broke down six months ago. The coroner found death was clue to a gunshot wound, self-inflicted when the victim was in a depressed state of mind.
