FUNCTION AT MATAMATA From Our Own Correspondent MATAMATA. Monday. The new Catholic School and Convent at Matamata were officially opened by Dr. Liston. D.D., Bishop of Auckland, on Sunday afternoon. Speeches of welcome were delivered by Father Gill, parish priest, and Mr. J. Buchanan, chairman of the Town Board. The former explained the financial position, which showed a mortgage of £ 3.44 G 17s 9d on the property. The Bishop congratulated those present, and especially Father Silk, on the great achievement accomplished in providing such a handsome building, so admirably equipped. Fie was pleased to learn there were about SO children attending already.
