ARMED YOUTH
ARRESTED AT MIDNIGHT CARRYING REVOLVER GIVEN AWAY BY TORCH Given away by the flash of his torch as he directed its beams into a shop doorway in Broadway, Newmarket, a youth was accosted by Constable Hendron and taken to the Newmarket police station at midnight last night. According to the police report, he was carrying a revolver, two screwdrivers and a pair of pliers. The arrest was made at 11.55 p.m. Robert John Bolton, a labourer, aged 20, was charged at the Police Court this morning with being found by night unlawfully in possession of housebreaking instruments. There was a second charge of unlawfully carrying a . seven-chamber revolver, and a third charge of having in his possession for more than seven days an unregistered firearm. Bolton, a diminutive, sharpfeatured youth with a shock of red hair, was remanded at the request of Senior-Sergeant O’Grady for a week.
