MOTOR-CYCLE RACES
THREE MEETINGS ARRANGED CONTESTS NEXT MONTH Auckland's racing motor-cyclists will be well catered for next month when meetings will be held on three different types of surface. Several events have been arranged for the meeting at Henning’s speedway, Mangere, on March 8. and a full programme of eight races will be held on the grass at Takapuna racecourse a week later. The following day will see the championship beach meeting of the North Shore Sports Motor-cycle Club at Orewa. The Takapuna meeting will be open to registered riders of the Auto Cycle Union only, and will be run under the control of the Auckland Motor Racing Club, which has staged all past meetings on this course. The programme is as follows: Shore Handicap, 5 miles, open, for machines and riders who have not lapped faster than 60sec. Alison Handicap, 5 miles, open, for machines and riders who have not lapped faster than 55sec. Auckland Handicap, 5 miles, open, only for riders and machines which have ridden faster than 55sec a lap. President’s Handicap, 5 miles, open, for machines and riders which have ridden faster than 57sec a lap. Members’ Handicap, 6 miles, open, for machines and riders which have ridden faster than 58sec a lap. Takapuna Handicap, 5 miles. Challenge race limited to eight selected riders. Cheltenham Handicap, 5 miles, open. Consolation Handicap, 5 miles, open to riders who have not Avon £5 during day. Entries close w r ith the secretary, Mr. T. W. Maben, on Wednesday, March 5.
