POISONING OF VALUABLE LIVE-STOCK
During the past six months several fanciers in the Auckland district have lost valuable stock in poultry, pigeons and canaries, by poisoning. It is apparent the culprit is one conversant with the doings of the fanciers concerned as, on each occasion, the owner has been away on holiday. The latest fancier to suffer is Mr. B. Duncan, the well-known Auckland exhibitor of fancy pigeonse, who, a week ago, lost nearly 30 of his most valuable birds, including his cup and shield winners for the past four years at the Auckland show. Fortunately, before leaving for his holiday Mr. Duncan had removed 11 birds into lofts which were near his dogs, otherwise it is certain they would have suffered the same fate as the others.
