ST. JAMES
“GOLD DIGGERS OF BROADWAY” Acclaimed as the greatest production of the season, “Gold Diggers of Broadway,” a spectacular all-talking and coloured Warner Brothers and Vitaphone picture, is now drawing to the close of its long season at the St. James Theatre. The film has a loosely-knit plot dealing with the “gold digging” activities of four girls of the Broadway stage. The romantic interest is supplied by the charming love affair of Violet, a beautiful show girl, and Wally Saunders, heir to a huge fortune. The production has been liberally interspersed with new • and attractive song and dancp numbers, while elaborate stage settings have been employed. A full bhorus of 100 girls is engaged and is seen in -several enchanting presentations. Included in the strong cast are Winnie Lightner, Nancy Welford, Lilyan Tashman, William Bakewell and Helen Foster. A full programme of short talking items completes the entertainment.
