MOTOR-CARS COLLIDE
DAMAGES CLAIMED AGAINST ROTORUA COMPANY The Rotorua Motor Transport Company was sued in the Supreme Court today by Frank Kay-Stratton and his wife for £2lO damages as a result of a collision between a service-car and plaintiff’s motor-car. The-accident occurred at the intersection of Albury Avenue and Mountain Road on May 24. The claim included £39 for repairs and loss of use of the! car, £2l for Mrs. Kay-Stratton's medical expenses, and £l5O damages for Mrs. KayStratton. The case was heard by Mr. Justice Smith and a jury of four. Mr. MeLiver represented the plaintiffs and Mr. Roe appeared for the defendant. Mr. Kay-Stratton, the plaintiff, described himself as a motorist of 23 years’ experience. Driving down Mountain Road on his correct side, about 15 m.p.h., he said he sounded the horn when nearing Albury Avenue intersection. His car was about six feet off the crossing when thfe service-car suddenly shot out, crashing broadshts into his car, the rear wheel of wine* was broken and the running-board stripped off. Since the accident his wife had suffered from nervousness and insomnia. (Proceeding.)
