REFORM AT TE AROHA
CONFIDENCE IN MR. COATES "WHOLE-HEARTED SUPPORT” From Our Own Correspondent TE AROHA, Tuesday. There was a large and representative attendance of Reform Party supporters at the Majestic Theatre this morning tc hear the Rt. Hon. J. G. I Coates speak on political questions. Mr. E. A. Bruce presided. Mr. Coates’s address was on the same lines as that given at Hamilton the previous evening. He stated that while the Prime Minister’s health did not allow him to take the platform, the Reform Party did not wish to criticise the present Government. Mr. H. G. Dickie, M.P., was of the opinion that after the Opposition leader had been through the country the electors would decide on the return to power of Reform. Mr. C. E. MacMillan, member for Tauranga, also spoke. The following resolution, proposed by Mr. F. W. Walters and seconded by Mr. E. Fitzpatrick, was carried by acclamation:—“This meeting of supporters in the Tauranga and Waikato electorates reaffirms its confidence in the Reform Party, commends its actions in Opposition, and pledges itself to work for the return of the Reform candidate at the next election.” Mr. A. D. Wallace and Mr. F. Strange seconded the following resolution: This meeting expresses appreciation of the Rt. Hon. J. G. Coates as Leader of the Reform Party and pledges its wholehearted and loval support.” This was carried, and Sir Coates returned thanks.
