CHURCH FIGHTS DIVORCE
OPPOSITION TO PROPOSAL IN QUEBEC WARNING FROM CARDINAL Reed. 11 a.m. MONTREAL, Monday. Warning of a battle over the proposal to establish divorce courts in Quebec was served on the Dominion Government by Cardinal Rouleau, of Quebec, supported by the Archbishops of Montreal and Ottawa, and the bishops throughout Quebec. A pastoral asserts that powerful influences are working, not to improve the present divorce courts, but to establish ffnd extend the powers of innumerable courts, this despite the fact that Quebec sentiment is preponderently of the opinion that marriage as a sacrament is indissoluble.
