CLAY-BIRD SHOOT
The Metropolitan Gun Club held the Auckland provincial clay-bird championship. and a series of open sweepstakes, on Saturday. Weather conditions were bad. especially during the earlier matches. The championship was won by C. Seddon. of Hamilton, with 20 out or 23. a very creditable performance cor* were present from all districts between sidering the conditions. Competitors were present from all districts between Kaikohe and Taumarunui. The results were as follow: No. 1 Sweep, of seven birds.—E. X Barratt. (18yds). C. Seddon OSvds). >* Pratt USyds). G. H. Brown (lSyds). all shot the possible and divided the stak*-v No. 2 Sweep. of seven birds.—G. Bretherton. Tumarunui U2yds) and M. Pratr. RIFLE SHOOTING The Akarana Defence Rifle Club continued its trophy series at Penrose ion Saturday under unfavourable condition?. A rear fish-tail wind was ! the cause of low scoring. Trophies I vere presented by Mr. A. M. Richardson and Air. J. R. Draffiii. and were ; competed for over the ranges of 500 and 600 yards. Silver spoons wer<=- ; won by Mr. A. G. CITY CLUB’S SHOOT Threatening weather conditions resulted in a small attendance at the City Rifle Club’s shoot on Saturday Although no rain fell a fish-tail wind and mist militated against good scores. Following are the results: P. J. Pring, 4S at 500yds, 42 at yds; total 90: J. A. Spray. 46. 42 SS; T 7 McLeay, 44. 42—86; A. G. Robertson, 43. 42—85; A. C. Watson. 46. 39—So; W. H. ! Thompson, 45, 39—54; T. Flovd, 42 37—79: C. H. Hirst, 37. 34—71: If. Judj kins. 31. 39—70; I. Spry, 34. 36—70. On adjustment, with handicaps. Pring, Spray and McLeay take 3,2 and 1 troph:> points respectively, and Pring and MtI Leav win spoons. Next Saturday the ranges will be S or! and 900 yards.
