FATAL CROSSING SMASH
MOTOR-CAR WRECKED-FOUR DEAD
MAN’S LEAP TO SAFETY
Reed. 1 p.m. SYDNEY, Today. A level-crossing smash near Werri bee resulted iu the death of four occu pants of a motor-car.
Mrs. Ferguson, Mrs. Warner and the latter’s two children aged five and three years were killed, and Edward Crowley, driver of the car, his wife and one child, were severely injured. Two other children received minor injuries.
A train crushed the car into tangled wreckage. James Ferguson, an occupant of the front seat, seized his fire-year-old grand daughter, Jean Warner and jumped. The train hit the child and kilted her, but Ferguson escaped with bruises.
