“BRIGHTEST AND BEST”
WIRTH’S CIRCUS RETURNING “The talkies have hurt every other show but the circus.” said Mr. G. L. Petersen, who has been advance agent for Wirth’s Circus for the past 30 years, and is preparing the way now for another visit from that combination of artists and animals. After an association of 30 years with the circus Mr. Petersen is convinced that it is an entertainment that will not die out, because it is different from all other entertainments and because it will always be a great attraction for the youngsters. The circus which Wirth’s are bringing to Auckland is an entirely new show, with artists brought together as the result of Mr. George Wirth’s recent trip to America. It will start a season in Auckland on March 10. There is a big menagerie also. Of the animals that are travelling the most remarkable are a troupe of polar bears and a brown bear which gives a balancing and sliding act. There are 11 performing elephants, and 14 cages tigers, leopards, bears, a wolf and two of other animals, including lions, black panthers. The cost of transport alone for this big circus is £IO,OOO, for a special steamer and special trains must be used.
