STRUCK ON HEAD BY WINCH HANDLE
ACCIDENT NEAR DARGAVILLE From Our Own Correspondent DARGAVILLE, Today. News was received late last night that »a man named Arthur Nightingale, of Hikurangi, employed in the Avoca coal mine, 13 miles out, was killed, presumably by being struck on the back of the head by the handle of used in connection with loading lorries at the pit-head. No one saw the accident, so that no further particulars are available. The coroner and the police left this morning to hold an inquest, but owing to the wet weather and the rough road are not expected to return till late tonight.
