FRANKLIN SHOW AT PUKEKOHE

JERSEY ENTRY RECORD (THE SUN’S Special Reporter.) PUKEKOHE, Today. Pedigree stock exhibits at the 45th annual fixture of the Franklin A. and P. Association, which opened at Pukekohe this morning, placed the show’ as one of the leading exhibitions of its kinti in the Dominion. Total entries, at 2,742, reached new high levels for the association, while entries in the Jersey section of 200, were claimed as a Dominion record. A heavy rainfall during the day made the ground sodden and muddy, but even this failed to cut the attendance down much below the usual figures. Trade exhibits and sideshows spread over the association’s extensive grounds anticipate fine weather and record atendance on People’s Day, tomorrow’. The general quality of all classes of stock exhibits was particularly high, especially in the dairy section, where several of the best-known breeders of the province had entries forward. In the Jersey section the four-year-old class was particularly well supported with 23 entries, and the junior sections of this breed, with about 25 entries, also made a fine display. The sheep section, although not very strong numerically, was representative of the best stock of the district. Pigs were down on last year’s entries, but the quality generally was high. A similarly high standard was shown in the liorso • section. Owing to the rain, judging in most sections was delayed, few being finished until late in the afternoon. In the beef breed, Mrs. E. McGuire was the principal winner with Red Polls. •L. L. Allen was the only winner with Polled Angus. Olaf McCutchan
