Smith, M.L.C., of Christchurch, is staying at the Grand Hotel. Sir George Elliot sailed irom Wellington on Tuesday for Sydney by the Tahiti. Mr. D. Aral ell, of the Department of Internal Affairs, was a passenger by the Limited today. Mr. J- B. Christie, who for the past 23 years has been solicitor to the State Advances Department, will retire on superannuation on March 1. Mr. G. L. Petersen, advance manager for Wirth Brothers’ circus, has arrived in Auckland to make arrangements for a short season, opening on Monday, March 10. Professor !F. P. Worley left for the South last evening to attend a meeting of the Academic Board of the University of New Zealand, which will begin its session on February 18. Mr. E. R. Wilson, of Invercargill, has been re-elected president of the New Zealand Institute of Architects, and Mr. W. M. P’age, Wellington, chairman of the executive committee.—P.A. Mr. Albert Spencer, president of the Auckland Provincial Employers’ Association, attended a meeting of the advisory board of the Employers’ Federation in Wellington and left later for Sydney by the Tahiti. Mr. Charles D. Morton, managing director and chairman of the wellknown English firm of Messrs. C. and K. Morton, Limited, London, is making a hurried trip through the Dominion, and is at present in Auckland.
